"You dream it, we can build it!"
At Mallery Hall, everything we design is unique, and uniquely for you. No project is too big or too small. The possibilities are somewhat endless! Our client, (Harvard University-American Repertory Theater) was looking for an old world, hand turned, Corinthian column, for a particular old world look on one of their stage production (Thanksgiving, 2012 Pippin The Carousel, see photos below of the production). We started with a drawing and worked closely with the client to get the correct turns. The left column needed to "turn" to the left and the right column needed to "turn" to the right. They also wanted the old world effect of vines crawling up the column. These columns where finished with hand rubbed mahogany stain and hand painted gold gilding. We do not use applique' or veneer, but acquire these details by hand.
OUR DESIGN PROCESS:
For a smooth design process this is what we request of our clients:
- To the best of your ability, please explain in detail the item you are looking for. You can provide a picture or a drawing, this would be the best start
- Then be as detailed as possible with your dimensions and the features you need, and include any other details on how you will be using your item that will assist in your design
- We also like to share wood and fabric samples so try to be as clear as possible on the finish and finish styles that you are looking for
- We use Sherwin Williams Duron and Benjamin Moore paints. These stores are convenient to most of our customers and provide a good starting point on finishes and stains. Then if necessary we will provide a wood sample for your approval
HAND CARVED MAHOGANY:
As you can see in the pictures below we hand carve our designs with hand tools and authentic lathes. We have custom shops in Vietnam, Peru, Mexico, and the Philippines. For these columns we used Vietnamese Mahogany (Toona Febrifuga)
OUR FINISHED PRODUCT:
This item was finished in hand rubbed mahogany with semi gold gilding. The client was ecstatic about these columns. Please see testimonial below.

"Hi Karol, I just wanted to contact you and thank you again for the custom columns you built for us. The columns were built exactly to our specifications and everyone oohhed and awed over the fact that they were solid mahogany. The hand carved details were exquisite. Also you will be very excited to know that the show that they were in is moving on to Broadway in NYC so the columns will get to live on in fame! Thanks again for helping us get these beautiful columns built."
